City of Friends - the pre-school TV show on Channel 5's milkshake! are celebrating their first birthday with a special themed 'Rescue Week' on milkshake! starting next Monday! (20th August) Each day next week one of our lovable new recruits from the City of Friends Emergency services - Max the Monkey (a trainee police officer); Elphie Elephant (a trainee fire-fighter); and Ted the Teddy Bear (a trainee paramedic) as well as Jumpi the Hare - will each join all the ‘milkshake!’ presenters in the studio to help read viewers birthday cards, show pictures and join in with lots of singing and dancing. And each City of Friends episode broadcast next week will feature the new recruits saving the day and working as team.
You may know that City of Friends is uniquely based on the adventures of real-life Norway state police officer Carl Christian Hamre. Hamre created bedtime stories for his young son based on his day job as a police officer and within 4 years, established CreaCon Group, one of Norway’s largest independent children’s entertainment production companies:)
‘City of Friends’ is an animated 52 x 10 minute series following the adventures of three new recruits to the Emergency Services and friends – Max, Ted and Elphie – who, together, help to solve various problems and mishaps in and around their city. The series has been capturing the hearts of children and parents alike with its gentle messages around friendship, tolerance and the importance of working together.
On Monday, Max will be in the studio to introduce ‘Max’s Mountain Walk’. Whilst walking up Friends Mountain, Max causes the ice to crack when he practices his yodelling and finds himself stuck in a crevice. When Mia also gets stuck in the ice, Martin summons the rescue crew on his walkie-talkie.
In the studio on Tuesday, Ted recalls the time when ‘Ted Forgets the Bandages’. No one notices when Timba runs off with a packet of bandages. So later, when Abby is called out to tend Jumpi, Martin thinks Ted has forgotten them! When Abby has a puncture en route, Ted finds the bandages in Petey's van! However did they get there?
Jumpi is in the studio on Wednesday. He and his new metal detector came to the rescue in ‘Gone Fishin’’. Martin and Mia are out on the lake fishing with their dad when Bonnie the boat becomes entangled in an old net. Hayley the helicopter is called out but her key is missing. Can Jumpi find it?
On Thursday, Elphie joins the Milkshake! presenters for ‘Bobby’s Sand Castle’. Max has a spare key cut for Hayley because she is always losing it. But then he loses the new one at the beach! Try as he might, he can't find it. So Elphie is called and sucks up lots of water in her trunk. Will she be able to find the key?
Max is back in the ‘Milkshake!’ studio on Friday for ‘Helmets are Cool’. Martin and Mia have been recruited to deliver lunch to the three trainees, who are on a training exercise on how to handle a fire. Mia refuses to wear a helmet, but when a real accident happens that Max has to deal with, she soon learns the error of her ways.
You can watch City of Friends weekdays on Channel 5’s Milkshake at 6.20am, Saturdays at 6.15am and Sundays at 6.25am. Or visit www.cityoffriends.com, www.facebook.com/cityoffriendstv

ReplyDeleteI have a selection of special bears now to everyone else they would mean nothing but to me they mean the world. They are those free bears you get from the hospitals. My little boy was a poorly baby with visits and stays every other week in hospital some self driven but most by ambulance with flashing lights. I have about 15 and cherish each and everyone as each was a time I may not have brought my baby boy back home. I have one particular favorite and that's the one with the mask they showed my little boy what was going to happen with this teddy when he was scared so he would be more at ease and it did work. So to many those free donated bears mean nothing but my free bears mean everything and they all sit proudly on my sons shelf in his bedroom oneday he will know what they are for but for now I'll let him play doctors and nurses with them all xxx
